Changelog

This is a working document and it says so. This page records what changed and when — including corrections. A site that promises to be testable owes its readers the test results.

  • Added Population: an interactive map that redraws Australia by where people live instead of by land area, built from the Australian Bureau of Statistics' Regional population, 2024–25 (estimated resident population at 30 June 2025) and its one-kilometre population grid. The five corridor options are drawn over it.
  • Heartland's statement that Australians live on a sliver of the continent now carries a calculated figure and its source: ranked by the square kilometre, the most crowded quarter of one per cent of the land holds nine in ten people. The calculation is this site's, from the Bureau's grid, and its method is published on the Population page. Heartland's population figure is updated from 27 million to the 30 June 2025 estimate.
  • The full-build land footprint on The Case now renders from the shared figures file, so it cannot drift from the Population page, which quotes it.

  • Corrected the precedents table on The Case: CopperString 2.0 cost and funding (A$13.9B, Queensland state-owned — previously '~A$5B federal co-funded'), Sun Cable scale and ownership (~20 GW, ~A$40B, Grok Ventures — previously '~6 GW, ~A$30B+, Squadron/Cannon-Brookes'), Project EnergyConnect delivery record (Transgrid section A$2.1B→A$3.6B with delays — previously described as on-time and on-budget), AREH status (added bp's February 2026 exit), WGEH scale (up to 70 GW in current filings).
  • Corrected the grid-scale comparison on The Case: NEM consumption 213 TWh in 2023-24 (AER) plus ~20 TWh WEM — previously '~284 TWh'.
  • Rewrote the delivery-risk response on Constraints to argue from staging discipline rather than from precedents whose records contradict the claim.
  • Aligned Gate 1 and Gate 2 capacity ranges on The Case to Plan (1–2 GW; 5–15 GW).
  • Corrected the Corridor meta description (five candidate alignments, not three) and the Heartland housing-cost multiple (roughly nine to ten times nationally; twelve or more in Sydney).
  • Added source references across the site, an Assumptions & Sources page, this changelog, and a privacy note.
